tony and i are really thinking about going on a safari in africa next year. we have always wanted to go - and there is no time like the present! we have been working with us based tour operator that works with wilderness-safaris. we are considering the migration routes safari that is a mobile camping safari. i think we may add on to the end of it and stay in a permanent camp in an area that has greater populations of lions and buffalo. we chose botswana because we have heard that it is definitely less touristy. much of the land in botswana is owned by private safari companies - which prevents safaris from "running into each other". we have learned that botswana is best visited in june-september timeframe - as this is the high season. the months directly preceding and following the high season can be rainy and in botswana are very "green". we are thinking of going for between 10-12 days preceded and followed by at least a day on each end of time zone catch up.
